Being slightly girlish

4.10.2011
Following Jennifer's post on Hetterson's new pieces, I took the plunge and ordered the Saturday dress. I'm a sucker for peter pan collars. Hannah was really nice about making sure that the dress would fit properly since I'm a little shorter than the usual demographic, but I'm excited about having the dress in time for summer. I like it particularly for the pockets and the fact that it would also work well into the cooler months with a pair of tights and a chunky sweater. I'm not usually very girly but there's something about the thought of a picnic blanket on green grass that brings out my feminine side! Also, as part of my attempts at living a little greener this year, I'm finally learning to grow my own vegetables which hopefully will not be eaten by the only dog I know who likes lettuce.

  2. Yay! I hope you share pics of you in the dress! Your collage sort of embodies everything that I hope to wear, feel, and do this summer.

Also, that's awesome that you're growing veggies this summer! I hope your experiment goes well. I wish we had the outdoor space to grow more than just herbs. I've considered getting on the wait list for a community garden in my neighborhood, but I hear that the wait is several years long. So discouraging.

  3. WiF: Hopefully it's not too girly. You know how I am :-) Perhaps a pair of oxfords would offset the feminity.

Jennifer: Definitely, I am really excited about getting the dress and Hannah was really sweet about everything. Do you have a deck/balcony? You could just grow tomatoes in big barrels - I'm actually going to do that and fenced it up so that my dog doesn't eat them!

  4. we have a deck, but it is TINY and gets very little sunlight. we tried growing tomatoes out there before, but it was pretty unsuccessful. lettuces might work better though, they seem to do better than tomatoes in shady areas.

  5. Your summer collage looks beautiful. I love Peter Pan collars too but I never find the right piece with one for myself.
