Soft-shell crab BLT at Lecosho

My summer outfits are very Margaret Howell inspired.
Apologies for being a berk and wearing my hat indoors.

Hello, folks.  A couple of things:
  1. Thank you to everyone who commented in the last few posts, I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to reply to comments (I do read them!) and I wanted to say that I appreciate everyone stopping by. I've been extremely busy with work and all the unfortunate things associated with graduate school - which leads me to my second thing...
  2. I'll be heading to Boulder, Colorado for an entire week starting Monday for a workshop. It's one of those trips that isn't going to be fun because there's going to be lots of work (A LOT!) and it's absolute shite weather in Boulder (85 degrees! Thunderstorms!). I'll be stuck in lectures from 8am to 5pm and I'm sure I'll be dog knackered at the end of the day, but I wanted to solicit some advice on places to visit and eat in Boulder. Any recommendations are most welcomed.
  3. Lastly, the sun finally came out today. So after lunch at Lecosho (can't speak highly enough of this place) I managed to try on some new Isabel Marant pieces today at Totokaelo (the Idea jacket, the Istan jacket and some tops). Just a heads up, the jackets ran big, were unlined (hence ultra scratchy) and fit really funny. Also, the size zeros were humongous, so unless you're 9 feet tall and sized like a football player, the jackets would look more like a carpet bag than an actual... jacket?
I have some really interesting posts I've been meaning to write up over the next few weeks. I just need to stop procrastinating and getting around to it. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the rest of the week.

  1. First off, yuuuummmmmmm, that sandwich looks so good. And you look adorable, I can definitely see the Margaret Howell influence, which is always a good thing. The colors are just so summery in that perfectly subtle way. I've also seen the Idea jacket and agree with you about the very strange fit and underwhelming choice of fabric. Have a fun and productive time at the workshop!

  2. @S

Thank you! I've been into wearing skirts more now that I have a chance, it's funny how comfy they are when it's hot out. The Idea jacket is suppose to have bracelet sleeves and it hung a good two inches over my hands. I looked like Dopey.

  4. I love the outfit - the Dieppas are perfect with the skirt. I hardly ever wear skirts anymore when it's warm, I'm scared I might show a bit too much chasing the kids around, shorts are better in that way. Seeing yours makes me want to wear them again. My husband just bought a great Maragaret Howell sweater, I wish I could find it in my size. I hope you'll have a good week.

  6. Love that outfit, and especially the hat. Serious and playful at the same time.

Sandwiches are great hot weather food! I had a grilled Houlumi cheese one on Sunday, and I'm still thinking about it.

Hope you have a good time at the workshop!

i hope the workshop goes well...at least you'll be able to avoid the bad weather by being stuck indoors all day. i have no boulder suggestions, but i hope you're able to find some good places to eat!

  10. found your blog via garderoben. I've bought a IM Felix jacket from this fall, I took a 2 in it and it is a good fit and not too slim, so I can wear it over a couple of layers. the sleeves are bracelet length on me, but I am almost 5'10"!

  11. you have to visit Goldmine Vintage Clothing which is on Pearl Street in Boulder...

Frasca is a little more upclass dining but killer good. Otherwise...if you're in the mood for some super local eats try Illegal Petes. Pesto Burrito, need I say more?

The Laughing Goat is a good place for coffee around Pearl St. But if you make it over to "The Hill" Inisfree Poetry Bookstore and Coffee is usually quiet and still amazing, might be the perfect place to rest.

    Enjoy your time in Boulder!

  12. Oh gosh, soft shell crab BLT? That's look absolutely delicious! I agree about the fit of some of Isabel Marant's jackets. It definitely varies by piece. I got the Etoile Fred jacket in a 0 and it fits perfectly for someone who normally wears a small. However, the sleeves are very cropped. Not sure if I have gangly arms or it's cut that way to show off some awesome wrist candy...

  13. Okay, you write intelligently about consumerism, you have a pair of church's, you know what MH style is, I'm in heaven! Except you are swamped with no time to blog, plus a very healthy worry about the effect that blogging has on your own shopping behavior. :(
Please please blog when you can.
